Mike began his career in marketing and advertising at Chicago-based S&H Travel where, for 5 years, he ran incentive travel programs and took groups to just about every major destination in the world. From there, he moved to LA and the advertising agency business, first with Chiat/Day and eventually the corporate identity firm of Bass/Yager, where his passion for brand was ignited. He saw first-hand the powerful effect marketing can have — especially when it truly connects a brand with its audience.
Mike has since accumulated over three decades of experience working with well known brands such as The Dial Corporation, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Hyatt Hotels and Pepsi Cola. He’s also run advertising agencies and managed entire marketing departments at companies like drugstore.com and Garden Botanika, where he helped take the company through a successful IPO as it grew from 10 Seattle-area stores to almost 350 throughout the US.
Mike’s recent work has been focused on helping new and mid-stage brands define what they stand for and move to their next-stage of growth. He especially likes to work with companies making a difference in the world, through alternative energy. Even in the midst of almost daily change in marketing, Mike has continued to learn, grow and leverage knowledge to help clients succeed. He loves to figure out what makes people do what they do.
