Eric Layland – Founder & Chief Strategist

With over 13 years continuous experience in online media and marketing, few others have as deep experience in the interactive space. He’s a dot.com survivor, 4 start-ups, an IPO, two major recessions and too many flavor-of-the-months. In the world of agencies where self-promotion often trumps capability, Eric’s most significant accomplishment is the reputation for integrity, intelligence and hard work his teams deliver on behalf of clients.

Confluence Digital LLC launched operations on June 1, 2009. The company is being built to deliver on the belief that multiple streams of data, unified into actionable information are infinitely more valuable than siloed operations. Confluence Digital begins Eric’s next phase after 6 years as co-founder and driving force behind Point It Inc., Seattle’s largest paid search focused agency managing over $30 million in client media dollars annually.

As a co-founder and entrepreneur Eric has worn many hats but efforts have always focused on building a great team to deliver outstanding service. At Point It external facing responsibilities included improving team knowledge, developing client solutions and service delivery oversight. Internal responsibilities encompassed strategic planning, development of organizational processes to improve efficiencies and enhance the work environment.

Past client work includes oversight of search marketing programs for Microsoft, RealNetworks, Hewlett-Packard, CISCO Systems, and over 100 others in both B2B and B2C markets. A particular source of pride is the ascendance of former team members to search marketing leadership roles at firms such as RealNetworks (nasdaq: rnwk), Omniture (nasdaq: omtr), Marchex (nasdaq: mchx), Razorfish, Cafepress, The Cobalt Group, and others.

Eric began his career at Fluke Corporation (now Danaher, nyse: dhr) where he was exposed to the possibility of the internet. He holds a bachelors of science in Marketing from San Diego State University and lives happily in Seattle.
